There’s nothing worse than packing up your family and your dog for a fun-filled day at one of New Jersey’s many beaches, only to arrive and realize that the beach is NOT dog friendly! We did some research and here are 6 dog friendly New Jersey Beaches Some of the beaches are dog friendly all year while others have restrictions during the summer months. Read on to learn more about dog friendly beaches in New Jersey.
1.) Fisherman’s Cove Conservation Area – 391 Third Avenue, Manasquan, NJ
Locals call this beach the “dog beach”! That’s probably because dogs are allowed on the beach all year round as long as they are leashed.
2.) Longport Dog Beach – Ocean Drive and Somers Point Longport Blvd, Somers Point, NJ
This beach is an OFF leash beach ALL year! There is no fee to enter.
3.) 8th Avenue Dog Beach – 8th and Ocean Avenue,Ashbury Park, NJ
During the off-season, you can bring your dog anywhere on the beach (except the boardwalk). During Peak season, (May 2nd – September 29th) dogs are only allowed on the beach during early morning hours.
4.) Sunset Beach – 799 Sunset Blvd. Cape May, NJ
Dogs (leashed) are permitted on this beach from September 15th – April 15th. There’s even a restaurant, Sunset Beach Grill, which welcomes you and your dog on their patio.
5.) Island Beach State Park – 2400 Central Avenue, Seaside Park, NJ
Dogs are permitted on this beach but must be kept on a six foot leash. Dogs are NOT allowed on the swimming beach during the summer months.
6.) Sandy Hook – Ocean Avenue and Hartshorne Drive, Middletown, NJ
Dogs are allowed on the bay side of this beautiful beach all year long!
